One of the events on Friday June 7th highlights the combination of bikes and transit. You can take your bike on the subway and other transit vehicles in non rush-hour times. One of the goals of the Bike Plan is to improved the synergy between bikes and transit. For more information you can see the Cycling and Transit web page. You can also view a PDF version of the Cycling and Transit Chapter of the Toronto Bike Plan.

The details for the TTC Transit Links event is quoted below, or you can see it on the Bike Week 2002 Web Site

TTC Transit Links 10:30 a.m. @ Finch Subway Station - Kiss 'N' Ride Drop Off - Yonge & Hendon Learn about multi-modal commuting by bringing your bike on the subway. Enjoy live music as you ride from Finch Station to Downsview and return to Union Station. Then go for lunch at St. Lawrence Market. All cyclists should meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Finch Station Kiss 'N' Ride on the west side of Yonge for an 11 a.m. departure.

Hope to see you there.

Article Comments:
I had to work on Friday and missed the info about bikes and TTC. What exactly are the "non rush-hour times," and can bikes be taken onto all TTC vehicles, including busses and streetcars?

Could someone please e-mail a reply to me? My addy is s0ulseeker@yahoo.com (the '0' in 's0ul' is a zero).

Thank you...

In answer to the question about non-rush hour times. The following is taken from a City of Toronto Web Cycling Web Page. www.city.toronto.on.ca/cycling/greatcycling.htm

Bicycles are permitted inside all Toronto Transit Commission buses, streetcars and subway trains except during morning peak hours (6:30 to 9:30 a.m.) and afternoon rush hours (3:30 to 6:30 p.m.).

Bicycle parking is available at 46 of the 66 subway stations. For more information, call the Toronto Transit Commission information line at 416-393-4636.

I could find no information on the TTC maps or on the TTC website.

Hope this helps.
