Update to:
Cosburn Bike Lanes back on Community Council Agenda: June 13th, 2006 Posted: Jun-10-06

At the Toronto and East York Community Council meeting on June 13th, 2006, a report on the bike lanes on Cosburn Ave. was considered and the bike lanes on Cosburn from Broadview to Oak Park were given a vote of support. (See previous Article). At one point Councillor Case Ootes Ward 29 Toronto-Danforth tried to have the bike lanes on Cosburn removed in his ward by way of a motion. That motion was defeated and the committee voted to received the report which means no further action will be taken and the bike lanes will stay in place.

The report now goes to the next City Council Meeting on June 27th, 2006. There Councillor Ootes could try again to have the issue debated. Hopefully Council will not consider going backwards on the bike plan by voting to undo a section of bike lane. If you want to encourage your councillor to support this and the other bike lane projects coming forward this year, you can send them an e-mail. If you don't know your Councillor or how to contact them the city has a web page that allows you to Find your Councillor.
